ETHAN DIAL AND SARAH KNIGHT LEAD LJGT AT U CLUB

Ethan Dial of Bossier City fired an impressive opening round of two-under par 70 at the difficult University Club in Baton Rouge. Dial’s round consisted of one bogey on the par 3 5th hole, followed by an eagle on the par 5 6th hole and one birdie on the par 4 14th hole. Dial leads Miles Merlin of Metairie by three strokes and four players who are tied for third at two-over par. Sarah Knight at Sterlington leads the Girl’s dvision by two strokes over Kaitlyn Montoya of Shreveport and three strokes over Sarah Hodson of Raceland. James Holtsclaw of Shreveport continues his stellar play in the Boys’ 11-13 division. Holtsclaw shot an opening round of one-over par 73 to lead Ben Blanco of Broussard by two strokes.  

 

It was a breezy day in Baton Rouge with temperatures rising to the mid-90s. The University Club, which is the home of the LSU Men’s and Women’s golf teams is in excellent condition and was a true test for the best junior golfers across the state. The shot of the day belonged to Drew Prieto of Baton Rouge who holed out for an eagle on the par 4 7th hole from 135 yards with a six iron.   

 

The University Club played to a par of 72 at approximately 6,600 yards for the Overall Boy’s division and approximately 5,600 for the Overall Girl’s and the Boy’s 11-13 division.
