RILEY HNATYSHYN AND SARAH MERAL WIN LOUISIANA JUNIOR GOLF TOUR AT SQUIRE CREEK

Riley Hnatyshyn of Abita Springs shot a 36-hole total of three-under par 141 to win the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour at Squire Creek Country Club. This was Hnatyshyn’s second win of the LJGT 2020 season. Hnatyshyn bested Jace Lejeune of Jennings by one stroke (142). Lejeune shot the low round of the day with a three-under par 69. Kale Fontenot of Lafayette finished third with a total of 145.

 

Sarah Meral of Abita Springs also took home her second win of the season after firing a total of 154 to win the Girls’ Overall division by six strokes over Kaitlyn Montoya of Shreveport. Ben Blanco of Broussard won the Boys’ 11-13 division after going into a playoff with James Holtsclaw of Shreveport. Blanco made a birdie on the par-5 11th hole to win his first LJGT event of the season.

 

It was another hot summer day for golf at Squire Creek Country Club with temperatures rising to the mid-90s. Squire Creek Country Club is in excellent condition and drew rave reviews from the largest Louisiana Junior Golf Tour field this summer. 

 

Squire Creek Country Club course played to a par of 72 at approximately 6,600 yards for the Overall Boy’s division and approximately 5,600 for the Overall Girl’s and the Boy’s 11-13 division.
