The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Jake Norris as its Director of Junior Golf. Jake began his tenure in this position December 1, 2022 and will be directly responsible for the conduct and management of the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour (LJGT) and all things junior golf in Louisiana. He will steer the Youth on Course initiative in Louisiana, while also serving the LGA in a number of other capacities.
“We are thrilled to hire Jake following his Boatwright internship this year. He is going to be a great addition to our full-time staff,” said LGA Executive Director Logan Ray. “Jake showcased his work ethic and ability to connect with LGA members. This is a new role for the LGA as we deepen our commitment to the next generation of golfers, and I can think of no better person to help us grow the game and elevate junior golf in Louisiana.”
Jake is originally from West Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Marketing. After completing his bachelor’s degree, Jake went on to obtain his Master’s in Business Administration while finishing out his tenure with the Louisiana Tech Football team. Jake was a part of the Louisiana Tech Football team from 2016-2020. He served nine months as the USGA P.J. Boatwright Intern for the Louisiana Golf Association in 2022. Jake shows tremendous passion for growing relationships, the game of golf, and is excited to bring that passion to junior golf and the LGA team.

The opportunity for the junior game to grow in Louisiana is immense, and I look forward to helping achieve that,” said Norris. “I also look forward to helping build around the excitement of the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour by continuing to conduct premier tournaments for our state and provide unrivaled experiences for LJGT members. There are tremendous people and clubs in Louisiana that love the game of the golf and support it thoroughly. I am excited to continue to build genuine relationships with those people and clubs with the common goal in mind of growing the game of golf for the juniors and amateurs in our state.”
The Louisiana Golf Association is the governing body for amateur golf in the state of Louisiana. It has loyally served its Members and Member Clubs since 1920. Today, the Louisiana Golf Association serves 90 Member Clubs and approximately 15,500 individual members, from its offices in Lafayette, LA. The LGA is an Allied Golf Association of the USGA and is dedicated to providing golfers a full range of services for the good of the game in Louisiana.
The LJGT was established in 2019 by the Louisiana Golf Association and Gulf States Section PGA to promote junior golf in Louisiana. The mission of the LJGT is to create more playing opportunities for ALL junior golfers in Louisiana and to do so at an affordable rate. The LJGT provides a first-class experience and fosters the valued traditions of the game through character development, self-reliance, and sportsmanship. Louisiana Junior Golf Tour membership is open to juniors of all skill levels, ages 11-18. This LGA and GSPGA initiative will benefit the game of golf in Louisiana and we invite all junior golfers to compete and test their skills in a fun environment. The LJGT will help junior golfers build a foundation of skills and knowledge that they will be able to use throughout the rest of their lives.
