LGA NAMES JACOB OAKS NEW DIRECTOR OF CHAMPIONSHIP OPERATIONS

Lafayette, LA — December 19, 2019

The Louisiana Golf Association is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacob Oaks as its Director of Championship Operations. Jacob will begin his tenure January 1, 2020 and will be directly responsible for the conduct and management of LGA Championships, USGA Qualifiers, and the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour. He will administer the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status for LGA Members and its Member Clubs, and he will serve the organization in a number of other capacities.

“Jacob was a tremendous asset for us as a USGA Boatwright intern this year, and we know he will flourish in his new role as Director of Championship Operations,” said LGA Executive Director Logan Ray. “Jacob has already developed a rapport with our constituents, and we are excited to keep him on staff. His competitive background and knowledge of the game will serve him well as he takes on this new challenge and added responsibilities. Jacob will bring an enthusiastic spirit to all of our competitions, and he will help elevate the player experience.”

Jacob is originally from Ardmore, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Sports Management. Jacob served six months as the USGA P.J. Boatwright, Jr. intern for the Louisiana Golf Association in 2019. He shows great passion for growing the game of golf and is excited to bring that to the LGA team.

“I am very excited to serve as the LGA Director of Championship Operations. I look forward to upholding the high-quality Championships that the LGA conducts and will strive to ensure that our Members and Member Clubs have a great experience,” said Oaks.

The Louisiana Golf Association is the governing body for amateur golf in the state of Louisiana. It has loyally served its Members and Member Clubs since 1920. Today, the Louisiana Golf Association serves 100 Member Clubs and approximately 14,000 individual members, from its offices in Lafayette, LA. The LGA is an Allied Golf Association of the USGA and is dedicated to providing golfers a full range of services for the good of the game in Louisiana.
