RILEY HNATYSHYN, SARAH MERAL & JAMES HOLTSCLAW WIN LOUISIANA JUNIOR GOLF TOUR AT CHATEAU!

Riley Hnatyshyn of Abita Springs shot the low round of the day, a two-over par 74, 36-hole total of 151 to capture The Louisiana Junior Golf Tour at Chateau. Hnatyshyn made 4 birdies in the final round to best Eli Hill of Bossier City by two shots at a challenging Chateau Golf & Country Club in Kenner. Dwayne Heron of Gretna finished in solo third with a 36-hole total of 159. Sarah Meral of Abita Springs converted her 18-hole lead into a victory by shooting a 36-hole total of 154. Ariana Blagrove of Slidell finished in second place with a score of 160 and Victoria Stephens of Harahan finished in third place with a score of 162. James Holtsclaw of Shreveport won the Boy’s 11-13 division with a score of 148 over Ben Blanco of Broussard.  

 

It was a difficult day for golf in South Louisiana with the wind gusting up to 20 mph and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. Play was suspended for the second straight day at 12:55 PM for a dangerous situation and play resumed at 1:45 PM. Chateau Golf & Country Club drew rave reviews and it was in excellent condition for juniors from all over the state.  

 

Chateau Golf & Country Club played to a par of 72 at approximately 6,500 yards for the Overall Boy’s division and approximately 5,500 for the Overall Girl’s and the Boy’s 11-13 division.
