2020 LGA Mid-Amateur Championship Cancelled

Lafayette, Louisiana – July 20, 2020

The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) today announced that it has cancelled the 2020 Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship, originally scheduled for August 7-9 at Le Triomphe Golf & Country Club in Broussard. “We have not taken this decision lightly, and we truly tried to work through all of the many challenges COVID-19 presents a competition of this magnitude. With a full field of 156 players for the event; including a waiting list, we felt bringing this many individuals together could potentially lead to more challenges. This was a mutual decision between Le Triomphe and the LGA. We are hopeful that Louisiana turns the corner soon, but the timing of this event with the recent uptick in positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is not ideal. We know that the players will be as disappointed as we are. Throughout this process, our primary focus has been the safety and well-being of everyone involved, including our players, volunteers, host club staff and members,” said LGA Executive Director Logan Ray.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the LGA. All 2020 Mid-Amateur entrants will receive a full refund to their entry fee payment method within the next 5-7 business days.

We are still planning to move forward with all other 2020 scheduled events as planned.
