Remembering Billy Jean Reasor: A Louisiana Golf Legend

The Louisiana Golf Association celebrates the life of Billy Jean Walsworth Kemp Reasor and remembers her dedication and contributions to the game of golf. Billy Jean passed away February 21, 2020. Due to COVID and other circumstances, a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022. “BJ” was born in Quitman, LA, on September 6, 1930, to Brian and Cloy (Hawthorne) Walsworth. She graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge HS in 1947 and Louisiana Tech in 1951. BJ was an avid and accomplished golfer, a competitive bridge player, a serial giver, and a relentless conversationalist. She was one of the organizers and leaders of the First Tee of Shreveport and head of the Greater New Orleans Open volunteer organization. She was President of the Women’s Southern Golf Association and Louisiana Women’s Golf Association. She was also a member of the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Championship Committee and the United States Senior Women’s Golf
Association.

BJ was twice Louisiana Senior Women’s Match Play Champion and Ladies Club Champion at Metairie CC (New Orleans), Lakeside CC (Houston), and Shreveport CC. In 1982 and 1989, she worked as a walking scorer at the British Open. She is survived by her two sons, William Kemp and Robert Kemp (Melinda), three granddaughters, and one grandson. She will long be remembered for her gifts of time, energy, and love for her family, friends, and the game of golf.
