Louisiana Junior Golf Spotlight: Eli Ortego

November 30, 2020

The Louisiana Junior Golf Tour member spotlight is a monthly article highlighting the strong talent in our state. Our December junior golfer to be featured is Eli Ortego of Broussard. Eli is a senior at Ascension Episcopal High School, and has been a member of the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour since its inception in 2019. Eli will attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall of 2021 and play for the men’s golf team. Eli is very active at Ascension and currently serves on the Leadership Counsel.

Ortego had an incredible 2020 season that started with a second-place finish at the 101st Louisiana State Amateur Championship at Bayou Oaks at City Park. Ortego continued his strong play with a tied for second finish at the 63rd Louisiana Junior Amateur Championship and a tied for third finish at the Louisiana Four-Ball Championship.
