Emily Gill to Serve as LGA’s 2021 P.J. Boatwright Intern

Lafayette, LA – April 30, 2021

The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Emily Gill as its P.J. Boatwright Intern for the summer of 2021. This internship will allow Emily to gain experience in the many aspects of golf administration.  The responsibilities of the intern will include assisting with office administration, championships, member services, course rating, and social media.

Emily is originally from Montgomery, Texas, and is currently enrolled at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.  She plans to graduate in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Business.  Emily was a competitive gymnast and has coached gymnastics as well.  Emily played golf in high school and was team captain.  She also has experience from work at a golf facility where she was a Pro-shop attendant conducting daily business with members and guests.  Emily loves sports and is very excited to begin her journey with the LGA!

The USGA established the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program in 1991. Named for the late P.J. Boatwright Jr., former Executive Director and Director of Rules and Competitions for the USGA, the program is a wonderful continuance of his legacy and service to the game.  It is specifically designed to give experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in golf administration, while aiding Allied Golf Associations in the promotion of amateur golf on a short-term, entry-level basis.  All current LGA staff members are alumni of the Boatwright internship program.

Emily’s internship will begin May 10th and will continue through end of July. “I am excited to work the LGA as the P.J. Boatwright Intern,” said Emily. “I am honored for the opportunity to work in a industry that I love, thank you!”
