Bowen Ballis of Shenandoah, Texas and Kristoffer Kuvaas of Houston, Texas carded an incredible round of seven-under par 65. These two talented players lead a strong field at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana. Luke Haskew of Baton Rouge and Holden Webb are in solo second just one shot off of the lead. There are two teams tied for third place at four-under par, Reeves Pullin of Choudrant, Louisiana and Ross Alford of Bossier City, Louisiana and Jack Gilbert of Houston, Texas and Jack Usner of Shenandoah, Texas.
Mattie Purgahn of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Montana Dileo of Orange, Texas lead by four strokes after firing an opening round of one-over par 73 over Sarah Knight of Sterlington, Louisiana and Sarah Meral of Abita Springs, Louisiana. Purgahn and Dileo carded birdies on the par 3 5th hole and the par 5 17th hole. Isabella Callaba of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Sadie Guillory of Lake Charles, Louisiana are in third place.
Jackson Knight of Eupora, Mississippi and Walker Gary of Oxford, Mississippi lead the Boy’s 11-13 division after an impressive opening round of even-par 72. Knight and Gary lead two teams tied for second place by three strokes. Gavin McDermott of Harvey, Louisiana and Henson Sharpe of Laurel, Mississippi and Hudson Greene of Bossier City, Louisiana and Wright Taylor of Madison, Mississippi.
Conditions were brutal in Choudrant, with temperatures reaching the low-30s with light rain throughout the day. The Tom Fazio designed Squire Creek Country Club drew rave reviews from competitors and spectators. The Squire Creek course played to a par of 72 at approximately 6,600 yards on Sunday for the Overall Boys competition and 5,450 yards for the Girls and 11-13 Boys. The greens are pure and even though the course has received a lot of rain this winter, it is in excellent condition.
