94th Louisiana Women’s Amateur Championship at Le Triomphe Golf & Country Club

Broussard, LA. June 23, 2022

The 94th Louisiana Women’s Amateur Championship is set to begin on Friday at Le Triomphe Golf & Country Club in Broussard, LA. 21 of Louisiana’s best women amateur golfers will compete for the right to be named Louisiana’s top female amateur golfer. An additional 31 women will play in 5 different flighted divisions. The Championship division will begin with a stroke play qualifying round to seed the top 16 players for match play. The 5 women who finish outside the top 16 will be moved into First Flight.

The player with the lowest score in stroke play qualifying will be awarded the Allee B. Chatham Medalist Trophy. The Allee B. Chatham trophy, an antique Sheffield silver bowl, was a memorial gift to the Louisiana Women’s State Golf Association from the New Orleans Country Club and other friends of Allee Bonner Chatham (pictured above), a member of the New Orleans Country Club and champion amateur golfer in 1985.

Allee was remembered by all as a fierce competitor, but always a lady on and off the golf course. Her good sportsmanship, gracious manner and fine sense of humor made her truly fun to play with, and she always was interested in “talking golf” and encouraging others to play a better game.
