PGA Professional Spotlight: Kevin Michael

MARKSVILLE, LA – The Louisiana Golf Association is proud to be hosting a U.S. Open Qualifier on April 30th, 2023 at Tamahka Trails Golf Club. The event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the club’s golf pro, Kevin Michael, who has been an integral part of the club’s success.

Kevin Michael, a PGA Professional, has been in the golf industry for over 30 years, serving as Tamahka Trail’s golf pro since 2016. His passion for the game of golf and his commitment to providing exceptional service to the club’s members has made him a valuable asset to the club and the community.

When asked about the upcoming U.S. Open Qualifier being hosted at his club, Kevin Michael expressed his excitement and gratitude, saying, “We’ve been working really hard over the past few years to get the golf course updated, and now we are getting to test our course against some of the best players in the world.  There are new tee boxes on 10 out of 18 holes and the course has been lengthened to almost 7,300 yards as a par 71.  It’s pretty exciting to have golfers of this caliber on our course, especially with the number of players this year being over one hundred.”

Kevin Michael’s journey to becoming a PGA Professional began only after about 3 to 4 years of being in the industry.  He has opened four golf courses as general manager in the state of Texas, worked in Kentucky, and spent some time in Tennessee before moving back to his home state of Louisiana.  In 2016, Kevin Michael was appointed as the golf pro at Tamahka Trails Golf Club, and he has been a driving force behind the club’s success ever since. He is known for his friendly demeanor, exceptional golf instruction, and his commitment to providing outstanding service to the club’s members.

Tamahka Trails Golf Club is proud to have Kevin Michael as its golf pro and is thrilled to be hosting a U.S. Open Qualifier under his leadership. The event promises to be a memorable one, with talented golfers from across the country vying for a chance to qualify and compete in the U.S. Open.
