Nicole Crochet and Kay Daniel Lead After First Round of 2024 Louisiana Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Championships

A look into the first round of the 2024 Louisiana Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Championships at Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner, Louisiana on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

25 players competed in the first round of the Louisiana Golf Association’s 2024 Louisiana Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Championships.  This morning’s tee times begin at 10:00 AM off the first tee. The course played to a par 72 at approximately 5,106 yards.

Kenner, Louisiana – The 2024 Louisiana Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Championships commenced with an exciting first round at Chateau Golf and Country Club. Nicole Crochet of Baton Rouge emerged ahead in the Mid-Amateur Championship, while Kay Daniel of Covington claimed the lead in the Senior Championship.

Crochet showed remarkable skill in the Mid-Amateur division, finishing with a score of 72. Her consistent play and strategic approach were evident throughout the front nine, positioning her as the top player in the championship. Trailing closely behind is Kay Daniel, with a score of +1, promising an intense battle tomorrow for the championship title.

In the Senior division, Kay Daniel showcased her skills, concluding the first round with a score of 73. Her performance, marked by six birdies and seven bogeys, underscored her consistent play and sharpness on the course. Julie Harrison of Baton Rouge closely followed with a score of 5 over-par.

The Flighted Women’s Senior Amateur Championship is also in progress this weekend. Angela Colombo of Gretna leads the pack with an impressive score of -5 through her first 18 holes, followed by Martha Collins and April Prestenbach of Baton Rouge at -2. Nancy Knapp of Baton Rouge and Dee Dee Becnel of Geismar rounded out the top positions with scores of -1 and E, respectively.

As the tournament progresses, spectators can expect thrilling competition as Crochet, Daniel, and other talented players vie for the titles of Louisiana Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Champions.
