The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) is delighted to announce an exciting development for amateur golfers in Louisiana. Beginning in 2024, the United States Golf Association (USGA), will introduce new exemptions for the champions of the Louisiana Amateur Championship and the Louisiana Junior Amateur Championship into the prestigious U.S. Amateur Championship and the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
These exemptions signify a remarkable opportunity for talented golfers in our state to compete on the national stage and further enhance Louisiana’s reputation for top-tier amateur golf talent. The decision to introduce these exemptions reflects the USGA’s and LGA’s commitment to nurturing the growth of amateur golf and providing promising players with the platform they deserve.

The U.S. Amateur Championship, conducted by the USGA, is #1 event in amateur golf bar none. The tournament showcases the world’s best talent and provides a chance for amateur golfers to compete on iconic courses against their peers from across the world. The 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship will be conducted at Hazeltine National Golf Club on August 12-18.
Likewise, the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship is the world’s highest-regarded event for junior golfers. It offers a unique opportunity for young talent to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience on a national stage. The 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will be conducted at Oakland Hills Country Club on July 22-27.
