Local Golfer Evelynn Artieta Qualifies for Drive, Chip and Putt Championships National Finals at Augusta National

Houston, TX – September 17, 2023

Evelynn Artieta, a young golfer from Denham Springs, La., has secured a spot in the National Finals of the Drive, Chip and Putt Championships. Her journey to this prestigious competition culminated at the Champions Golf Club in Houston, where she showcased her golfing talents.

The Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship is a national competition aimed at developing the skills of young golfers in driving, chipping, and putting. Following a strong performance in the Houston Regionals, Evelynn Artieta emerged as one of the top performers and earned her place among the National Finalists.

In the Girls 14-15 age group, Evelynn won by a narrow margin, particularly excelling in putting. Her total score of 132 allowed her to edge out her competition by just one point. The final outcome was determined during the putting segment, where Evelynn secured an impressive 60 points.

The local community is delighted and proud of Evelynn’s accomplishment. Representing Denham Springs and Louisiana, Evelynn showcases dedication, skill, and a bright future in golf. She is the fourth girl from Louisiana to make it to the National Finals and the first from the Baton Rouge area.

“I just wanted to put up a good score and see what happens,” said Evelynn when asked about her journey to the National Finals.

Evelynn expressed her gratitude to her coaches, family, and the community for their support in her golfing journey.

The Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals will take place on April 7th, 2024, at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. This event provides young talents like Evelynn with an opportunity to showcase their skills on a national stage and paves the way for a promising golfing future.
