Final round results of the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour’s David Toms Junior Championship held at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 26, 2023.

79 players competed in round one of the 2023 David Toms Junior Championship. Morning tee times began at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee. The final group finished early at 3:30 PM. The course played to a par 72 at 6,600 yards for the Overall Boys Division and approximately 5,634 yards for the Overall Girls and Boys 11-13 Division.
Fox Hambleton from Texarkana emerged as the champion in the 2023 David Toms Junior Championship with a remarkable 36-hole total of two-over par 144. Notably, this victory marked Hambleton’s first-ever win on the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour. He secured the top spot by outperforming Xan Walker of Shreveport by a single stroke (145), and Cason Toms of Benton, who finished in third place, by three strokes (146). The highlight of the tournament for Hambleton was his hole-out eagle on the par-five 7th hole, a shot that ultimately propelled him to the leaderboard’s summit.
Abigail McWilliams of Benton also celebrated her first win of the 2023 LJGT season in the Girls’ Overall division, finishing with an impressive total of 151. She dominated her competitors, winning by a substantial margin of twenty-three strokes over Addison Montoya of Shreveport. McWilliams wrapped up the championship strongly with a remarkable 33 on the back nine.
In the Boys’ 11-13 division, Reed Winkler of Shreveport claimed victory, surpassing the leader going into the final round, Parker Greene. Winkler showcased a stellar performance, birdying on the first hole and replicating it on holes 7 and 13. He completed the round at one over par and concluded the entire tournament at eleven over par. Greene finished as the runner-up, trailing at fourteen over par. This marked Winkler’s second LJGT win of the 2023 season, having previously triumphed at LJGT at Beau Chene.
The event took place at East Ridge Country Club, where participants faced the challenges of a hot summer day, with temperatures soaring into the upper-90s. The golf course at East Ridge Country Club is renowned for its difficulty, boasting a Par 71, 18-hole course spanning 6,831 yards, as beautiful as it is formidable. Superintendent Nick Cauley and the Greens staff are credited for maintaining the course in excellent condition year-round. The LJGT and LGA expressed gratitude to the club and its staff members for their exceptional hospitality and the picturesque course.
