70 players competed in the final round of the 24th Louisiana Net Amateur Championship. Tee times began at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee. The final group finished right on time at 3:30 PM. The course played to a par 72 at 6,337 yards for the Mens’ Division and 5,394 yards for the Womens’ Division.
Ronnie Averett from Loranger, secured victory in the Men’s division with a final round score of 67, positioning him at 8-under for the championship. Averett’s performance was nothing short of remarkable, as he navigated the front nine without a single bogey and notched eight birdies during today’s round. Claiming the runner-up position is Matthew Freeburgh of Baton Rouge, who finished the championship at a commendable five-under par, culminating with a final round score of 70. Meanwhile, William Duncan, also representing Baton Rouge, claimed the third-place trophy, carding an exceptional 65 that propelled him up the leaderboard. Duncan’s round contained eight birdies and just one bogey, a testament to his phenomenal round.
Miss Nicasia Chase from Gonzalez secured victory in the Women’s Flight, finishing at an impressive two-under par with a final round score of 72. Her remarkable performance featured two eagles, eight birdies, two bogeys, and two double bogeys, wrapping her scorecard for the day, ultimately leading her to claim the championship trophy. Notably, she played on her home course, a factor that seemingly worked to her advantage. Nicasia’s triumph was undoubtedly well-earned. The runner-up position belonged to Mrs. Catherine Hodson of Baton Rouge, who concluded the tournament with a four-over-par performance. Hodson’s final round was solid, as she carded an even par 72, securing her the runner-up trophy. Claiming third place was Leila Carino of Harvey, who wrapped up her final round with a score of 75. This brought her overall tournament performance to five over par and earned her the third-place trophy
The Flighted Men’s division concluded on a high note this afternoon. Emerging as the St. Andrew’s Flight Champion is Josh Rogers of Baton Rouge, achieving a two-under par score. Dwayne Brown of New Orleans secured the division’s runner-up position with a level-par 72. J.T. Hannan of New Orleans rounded out the top three in the division, finishing at one-over par.
In the Troon Flight, Thomas Breaux of Monroe displayed his skill as the division’s champion, finishing at two-under par. Lafayette’s Ken Alexander claimed the runner-up spot, concluding the championship at even par. Asa Faulkner of Denham Springs secured third place overall with a two-over par performance.
The Carnoustie Flight celebrated Ricky Norwood of Lake Charles as their champion, ending with a one-over par score. Sulphur’s Carl Lemaire secured the runner-up position, posting a score of two-over par. Andrew Mercante claimed third place, finishing at six-over par.
The Club Net Champion was claimed by the Santa Maria Golf Course flight, composed of Josh Rogers, Andrew Cavell, Chad Garon, and Cody Hue. Their collective effort resulted in a six-over par score, placing them triumphantly at the forefront of the leaderboard.
Pelican Point’s premiere facility, The Links Golf Course winds through the prestigious Pelican Point Golf Community.
