Thompson Wins Wire-to-Wire at 25th Louisiana Net Amateur Championship

63 players competed in the first round of the 25th Louisiana Net Amateur Championship held at Tamahka Trails Golf Club in Marksville, Louisiana. Tee times began this morning at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee. The course played to a par 71 at 6382 yards for the Men’s Division and a par 72 at 5267 yards for the Women’s Division.

Marksville, LA – In the final round of the 25th Louisiana Net Amateur Championship, Don Thompson of Woodworth emerged as the wire-to-wire champion, finishing with an impressive five-under for the overall championship. Thompson managed to card in 13 birdies and one eagle between both of his rounds and limited himself to five bogeys and two double-bogeys. Finishing as runner-up for the overall championship is Eric Lavespere of Monroe at four-over par. Brian Anderson of Hammond won in a scorecard playoff to secure third place in the overall division at five-over par.

In the Women’s Division, Cynthia Griffin of Alexandria won with an overall score of six-over par. Griffin had a pretty nice lead over the rest of the field with runner-up, Carla Thompson of Woodworth finishing at 13-over par. April Prestenbach of Baton Rouge finished one shot behind for third place at 12-over par.

Runner-Up: Brian Anderson | Hammond | +5

Third Place: James Moak | Denham Springs | +12
