The 2024 Junior River Cup Kicks Off

40 players competed in the first and second round of the 2024 Junior River Cup held at Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. Tee times began at 8 a.m. off hole one.

West Point, MS – The 2024 Junior River Cup began with a strong morning at Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. After completing 36 holes, Team Mississippi has a 3 point lead over Team Louisiana. 

Saturday morning sessions featured Four-Ball match play. Team Louisiana led Team Mississippi with a score of 6.5 – 3.5. In the 10-11 and 12-13 Boys Division, Team Louisiana had a clean sweep with all pairings winning their Four-Ball Matches. Players Brandon Fuselier of Slidell, LA and Samuel Perrodion of Ville Platte, LA won 2 & 1. Landon Lotz of Slidell, LA and Crew Galambos of Shreveport, LA won 3 & 2. Augustin Gros of Metairie, LA and Owen Lejeune of Baton Rouge, LA won their match 4 & 3. Meanwhile Derby Everson of Shreveport, LA and Grey Ramsey of Choudrant, LA finished their match on top 3 & 2. 

In the Girls’ Division, Evelynn Artieta of Denham Springs, LA, and Maci Williams of Brusly, LA, gained a point for Team Louisiana by winning their match 5 & 4. Lucy Cook and Eliza Yelverton of Mississippi won a point for Team Mississippi, also with a 5 & 4 victory. No points were lost for Team Louisiana in the Boys’ 14-15 Division during the morning session. Hudson Green of Bossier City, LA, and Slayte Guidry of Shreveport, LA, tied with George Bryan III and Walker Gary of Mississippi. Maddox Mowad of Monroe, LA, and Parker Greene of Mandeville, LA, won their match 5 & 3

Team Mississippi overcame Louisiana in the Boys 16-18 Division when Jack Morris with Cal Wier and Aubrey Jones with Landry Williamson of Mississippi won both matches. 

The afternoon round transitioned to Foursome match play where Mississippi made a big comeback winning all but 2 matches. The two Louisiana pairings that gained points were boys 12-13 group Lejeune with Gros and boys 10-11 Lotz with Galambos. Following the afternoon session Team Mississippi has a 3 point lead of Team Louisiana with a score of 11.5 – 8.5. Tomorrow will be single match play with tee times starting at 8 a.m. off the first tee.
