Popp Leads Round One of LJGT at the Farm at Five Under Par

A look into the first round of LJGT at the Farm tournament held at Farm d’Allie Golf Club in Carencro, Louisiana on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

76 players competed in the first round of the Louisiana Junior Golf Tour’s tournament held at Farm d’Allie Golf Club. Tee times began this morning at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee. The course played to a par 72 at 6,585 yards for the Overall Boys Division and approximately 5,680 yards for the Overall Girls and Boys 11-13 Division.

Carencro, Louisiana – The first round of the LJGT tournament at Farm d’Allie concluded today under sunny skies. Leading the Boys 11-13 division after 18 holes is Derby Everson of Shreveport, finishing at three-under with a bogey-free front nine that consisted of 5 birdies. Just one shot behind is Grey Ramsey of Choudrant, the runner-up. Ramsey had a pretty consistent round with one birdie and one bogey on the front nine and two birdies on the back. Tied for third heading into tomorrow’s final round are Augustin Gros of Metairie and Eli Knighton of Shreveport, both at 2-over par. Gro recorded 3 birdies, 3 bogeys, and one double bogey, while Knighton had 3 birdies, 3 bogeys, and 1 double bogey.

In the Overall Girls’ division, Vivian Volion from Springfield is the round leader after finishing at 6-over par, with 3 birdies, 4 bogeys and 2 double bogeys. Close behind, in the runner-up position, is Gracie Goodwin of Bossier City, who shot a 79, 7-over par, with 2 birdies, 5 bogeys, and two double bogeys.

The competition is fierce in the Overall Boys’ division, with Ivan Popp of Lafayette leading the pack at five-under par. Popp started strong, carding a birdie on hole 2 and an impressive eagle on hole 4. Despite a minor setback with a bogey on hole 8, he rebounded with four more birdies on the back nine, finishing his round on a high note.

Trailing by two strokes in second is Tripp Bellard of Lafayette. In third at 2-under par is Drew Prieto of Baton Rouge.

The excitement is building up for tomorrow’s final round at the Farm. Tee times will begin tomorrow at 7:30 AM off the first tee.
