McWilliams, Purgahn and Greene Win LJGT at Querbes Park

 

Shreveport, LA – April 3rd, 2022

Noah McWilliams of Benton, is your 2022 LJGT at Querbes Park Champion for the Overall Boys division. McWilliams carded a round one score of 69 and a round two score of 64, finishing the weekend at -9 under par. To start the 2nd round, McWilliams was two back from the 1st round leader Alston Manne, but found a rhythm early the second day and carded an impressive low score of 29 on the front 9. McWilliams, on the 294-yard par 4 14th, using a three wood, drove the green and stuck one 15 feet from the hole. McWilliams would make the putt for eagle to put an exclamation point on his decisive victory helping him defend his LJGT at Querbes Park title by seven strokes. Grant Reagan made a great push with a score of 67 on the second day to tie for 2nd with day one leader Alston Manne. The tiebreaker went to a scorecard playoff for the lower score in round two, giving the edge to Reagan with his lower score of 67 in round two. Alston Manne carded a 67 in round one and a 73 in the round two.

Mattie Purgahn of Lake Charles, LA is your 2022 LJGT at Querbes Park Champion for the Girls division. The battle for the Girls division was a competitive one and came down to the wire between the last group featuring Ariana Blagrove of Slidell, Vivian Volion of Springfield, and Mattie Purgahn. Going into the 18th hole, Blagrove and Purgahn were tied at 14 over par and Volion was only one back from the leaders. Volion was able to post a par on the par 4 18th, while Purgahn made a bogey. Blagrove, after an unfortunate hole, finished with a triple bogey. This forced a playoff hole between Volion and Purgahn after both finished at +15 over par for the weekend. Purgahn was able to secure the victory with a bogey after one playoff hole for her win at the 2022 LJGT at Querbes Park.  

Hudson Greene of Bossier City is your 2022 LJGT at Querbes Park Champion for the 11-13 Boys division. Greene finished the tournament at three-under par. Greene was the leader of the field after round one with an impressive score of four-under par 67. Greene was able to hold onto his lead in round two carding a one-over par 72. Noah Chauvin of Broussard made it interesting in round two with a score of three-under 68. Chauvin finished at one-over par for the weekend to secure his runner-up spot.  

It was a beautiful day Querbes Park with a high of 80 degrees and a nice breeze to accompany the sunshine.

The Querbes Park Golf Club played to a par of 71 at approximately 6,166 yards for the Overall Boy’s division and approximately 5,512 for the Overall Girl’s and the Boy’s 11-13 division.
