Lafayette, Louisiana – We are thrilled to announce that our January Louisiana Junior Golf Tour Player of the Month is Morgan Goudeau! A resident of Pineville, Louisiana, Morgan is a student at Tioga High School. We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Morgan for an exclusive interview, where she shared valuable insights into her journey and success in golf. Check out her responses below!
What is you favorite golf course you have played so far?
Koasati Pines, Kinder LA
If you could play golf with anyone in the world, who would you pick?
I would say Bryson DeChambeau or Lilia Vu. The are both strong golfers who are able to manage their emotions on the course while still having fun at the same time.
When did you start playing golf?
8 Years Old
What inspired you to take up the game?
I went to a First Tee Program when I was younger during the summer, and I have been hooked since then. I love the game, the mental strategy, the challenge, and the values that golf teaches.
What is your favorite memory from playing golf?
Making my first and only hole-in-one when I was 11.
Describe your pre-round routine.
I like being on the course at least an hour before my tee time. I hit the driving range first and always reserve time for putting and chipping at the end. I listen to music when I warm up to decompress and I always say a prayer on my way to the first hole that my game and my attitude bring God glory.
Any superstitions or rituals before a tournament?
No superstitions but I never eat before a tournament.
What’s your go-to club in a challenging situation?
Depends on the distance but I love my PW.
What is your dream course to play?
Pebble Beach!!!!
If you were a golf club, which would you be and why?
A wedge for sure. Wedges are versatile and typically more controlled.
What is your go-to snack and/or food/meal to get you “tournament ready”?
I don’t eat before tournaments but I do snack on pineapple, strawberries, or peanut butter crackers.
Who is someone you love to play with or against because you know it will help improve your golf game?
I like playing with Kate Boersma because she’s fun and laid back. We can laugh and play good golf at the same time.
What advice would you give to aspiring young golfers?
There is always something that you will be working on with golf and you will sometimes go through struggles with your game but don’t give up. Stay focused, the game is so much fun and well worth the work.
Favorite hobbies or activities besides golf?
I enjoy swimming and tennis.
Write one random fact about yourself
I enjoy volunteering. One of my favorite things to do is to visit nursing homes and paint resident’s nails while listening to the stories of their lives and their families.
Take a moment to share a message with fellow LJGT players, fans, and supporters.
To all the LJGT players, I am thankful for you and your commitment to golf. I don’t have to know you personally to want the best for you, and I really do. Every player brings something special that helps make LJGT the strong tour that it is. To fans and supporters, your kindness matters and means so much.
