154 players competed in the second round of the 32nd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship held at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana. Tee times began this morning at 7:30 AM off the 1st and 10th tee. The course played to a par 72 at 6839 yards.
Choudrant, LA – In the second round of the 32nd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship, Clinton Shepard of Lafayette emerged as the clear leader, delivering an outstanding performance with a score of 67. Starting the day at one-under par and quickly finding his rhythm on the course, Shepard’s round included seven birdies and only two bogeys. His exceptional play shone through as he birdied three out of the four par 5s at Squire Creek Country Club.
In a tie for runner-up, two shots back, are first-round co-leader Nathan Weant of Bastrop and John Humphries of Woodworth, both finishing the day at four-under par. Weant, despite a slower day, managed to card an eagle on hole 9 and another birdie on hole 18. John Humphries showcased a remarkable performance, moving up one spot on the leaderboard with an impressive round featuring a hat trick of birdies on holes one through three.
Tied for fourth place are yesterday’s co-round leader, Andrew Noto of Metairie, Jason Humphries of St. Amant, and Jonathan Jeter of New Orleans, all at one-under par. Following today’s round, there will be a cut to the top 60 players and ties for tomorrow’s final round.
Squire Creek has been in immaculate condition for this championship, thanks to the dedicated staff and management at the country club. The stage is set for an exciting final round with tee times scheduled to start at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee.
