69 players competed in the the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifier held at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana. Tee times began this morning at 7:30 AM off the 1st and 10th tee. The course played to a par 72 at 7,002 yards.

Choudrant, LA – Clinton Shepard of Lafayette earned low medalist honors during today’s qualifier at Squire Creek, finishing the 18 holes with a score of four-under-par, 68. This performance follows his recent victory as the 32nd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Champion. Shepard’s round included a bogey-free back nine with five birdies and a single bogey on the fourth hole.

Tied for second place with scores of three-under-par, 69, were Douglas Dupont of Baton Rouge, Derek Busby of Choudrant, Winburne Hughes of Memphis, Tennessee, and Joel Alexander of Florence, Alabama. With three qualifying spots and two alternates available, these four golfers went into a playoff.

The playoff took place on the par-4 18th hole, where Derek Busby chipped in for birdie to claim one of the remaining qualifying spots. Joel Alexander made par to secure the last qualifying spot.
