60 players competed in the final round of the 32nd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship held at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana. Tee times began this morning at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee. The course played to a par 72 at 6,936 yards.
Choudrant, LA – The 32nd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship wrapped up today at Squire Creek Country Club after three days and 54 holes of intense competition. Clinton Shepard of Lafayette emerged as the champion, holding off a strong challenge from John Humphries of Woodworth, who narrowed the gap on the back nine today. Shepard’s victory was sealed with a birdie and a timely eagle on the par-five 17th hole, securing his one-stroke lead. Having played collegiate golf at Louisiana Tech, this win was particularly meaningful for Shepard as he returned to his former home course to claim the championship title.
Nathan Weant of Bastrop finished as the runner-up, concluding the tournament at five-under par. The University of Louisiana Monroe golf coach posted one birdie on each nine, with just a single bogey on the front nine in his final round.
John Humphries secured third place, finishing at four-under par. His final round featured two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, two more birdies on the back nine, and a challenging double bogey on the 18th hole.
The weather was phenomenal all weekend at Squire Creek Country Club. The Louisiana Golf Association extends its heartfelt gratitude to the country club staff for their support throughout the event. The next championship will be the 25th Net Amateur Championship at Tamahka Trails Golf Club on August 24th-25th.
