Chuck Gardner Wins 2024 U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifier at Southern Trace Country Club

29 players competed in today’s qualifier at Southern Trace Country Club for one qualifying spot and two alternate spots in the 2024 U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifier to be held at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.  Tee times began this morning at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee.  The final group finished way ahead of pace at 1:00 PM.  The course played to a par 72 at 6,604 yards.

Shreveport, LA – In today’s qualifier, Chuck Gardner of Texarkana played phenomenally at Southern Trace Country Club, carding an impressive one-under par 71 to earn low medalist honors and punch his ticket to Ooltewah. Gardner’s round consisted of him going bogey-free all the way up to hole 12, making 2 birdies on the front 9. Although he bogeyed hole 12, he quickly bounced back with a birdie on 14 and finished with another bogey on 17.

Billy Joe Tolliver of Saint Gabriel claimed the first alternate spot after finishing at one-over par, 73. There was a playoff for the second alternate spot between Robby McWilliams of Benton, Anthony Doss of Mandeville, and Rick Hart of Covington, who all finished at 2-over par, 74. Doss secured the second alternate title after making a birdie in the playoff, while his opponents fell short.

Gardner will now advance to the 2024 U.S. Senior Amateur Golf Championship, to be held on August 24th – 29th, 2024.
