MIKE AMEEN INSTALLED AS PRESIDENT OF LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOC.

February 25, 2010 -- Lafayette, LA -- The Louisiana Golf Association, at its recent Board of Directors meeting at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, installed Mike Ameen of Shreveport as President of the organization.  Ameen, a member at LGA member clubs Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport and Squire Creek Country Club in Ruston, has been a member of the LGA Board of Directors since June of 2005.  In addition to his administrative duties with the LGA, Ameen is also an accomplished player, having competed in a number of LGA and USGA Championships over the years.

Other officers installed on Saturday were Mason Rudolph, Jr., of Tchefuncta CC as Vice-President, and George Cestia of Lake Charles CC as Secretary-Treasurer. 

New appointees to the LGA Board of Directors are Burt Allen of Southern Trace CC, Darrel Benoit of TPC Louisiana, Frank Brame of OakWing GC, Wiley Conn of Beau Chene CC, and Jared LeBouef of the University Club.

Returning members of the Board include the aforementioned Ameen, Rudolph, and Cestia; as well as Bobby Bernard of the University Club, Doug Farr of Bayou DeSiard CC, Jean Hall of Squire Creek CC, Dave Kaspar of Gray Plantation, Butch Marshall of Oak Knoll CC, John Mendell of Oakbourne CC, Kevin Morvant of Ellendale CC, John Schiller of the CC of Louisiana, Ben Thibeaux of Oakbourne CC, and Corky Yates of OakWing GC.

Retiring in February after seven years of service was: Immediate Past President Lew Ward of Beaver Creek GC, and after six years of service were: Ronnie Averett of Oak Knoll CC, Keith Breazeale of OakWing GC, Mike Morgan of Southern Trace CC, and Henri Wolbrette of Audubon Park GC.

The Louisiana Golf Association is the governing body for amateur golf in Louisiana and, in addition to conducting the major amateur championships statewide, also provides course rating and handicapping services to its almost 110 member clubs.  It also provides a vast array of benefits and services to its almost 20,000 individual members.
