PRESS RELEASE RECAP OF U.S. OPEN LOCAL QUALIFIER AT ENGLISH TURN May 10, 2010 – New Orleans, LA – The U.S. Open is not only a fantastic event because of it being the second major championship of the year, but also due to the fact that it is open to anyone. Of course, by anyone we mean the select few with a 1.4 handicap index or lower. Those attempting to make it to Pebble Beach this summer have to survive a local and sectional qualifier, where the level of competition does not allow for many mistakes. On Monday, a local qualifier was held at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans, LA. There were 70 players in the field with 4 to advance to sectionals and 2 to be designated as alternates. The course and weather allowed for good scoring conditions. The wind was a factor all day, but more than manageable for the field of 37 amateurs and 33 professionals. The four individuals advancing to sectional qualifying, as well as the two alternates, are listed below:
The 2010 U.S. Open will be held at Pebble Beach Golf Links, CA and will take place June 17-20.
