HAYDEN BIGBY TAKES LEAD HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND AT LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION JUNIOR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

July 1, 2010 -- Houma, LA -- Bossier City’s Hayden Bigby fired his second consecutive one-under par 71 on Thursday to take a one-shot lead into the final round of play at the 2010 Louisiana Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship.

Bigby, who shared the lead with Grady Brame, Jr., of Hammond and Taylor Billings of Kenner after 18 holes, now leads Pineville’s Chuck Spears, and Jess Savoie of LaRose by one shot. Spears made seven birdies enroute to a three-under par 69 on Thursday while Savoie shot one-under par 71. Bigby is at two-under 142, while Spears and Savoie stand at one-under 143.

One more shot back at even par 144 was Jordan Karam of Lake Charles. He also had a one-under 71 on Thursday. Tied for fifth at one-over 145 was a trio of golfers, including Myles Lewis of Metairie (76/69), Adam Galliano of Baton Rouge (73/72), and Billings (71/74). Brame struggled to a 78 on Thursday and was alone in eighth at 149. Michael Fontenot of Lake Charles, Drew Boston of Baton Rouge, and Eric Ricard of Shreveport shared ninth at six-over par 150.

Friday’s play will again begin at 7:30 AM off both #1 and #10, with the leaders scheduled to go off #1 at 8:24 AM.

This year’s Championship is being played at Ellendale Country Club in Houma. The Ellendale CC course, noted for its small greens and narrow fairways, is playing to a par of 72 at approximately 6,600 yards for the Championship.
