PRESS RELEASE ELLENDALE COUNTRY CLUB TO HOST LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION JUNIOR AMATEUR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP JUNE 30-JULY 2 June 28, 2010 -- Houma, LA -- Ellendale Country Club will host the 53rd edition of the Louisiana Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship June 30-July 2, 2010. Former winners of this prestigious event include former PGA Champions David Toms and Hal Sutton, and present PGA Tour player Willie Wood. The event will conduct an Overall Championship division, which is open to any Louisiana Junior between the ages of 10 and 17. The Overall Championship will be conducted over 54 holes. In addition, juniors that wish to participate in Age Group division Championships will compete over 36 holes on June 30-July 1 with Age Group division award presentations to be conducted after the completion of play on July 1. The Overall Championship division presentations will be made after play on July 2. This year’s event, as is always the case, has drawn an extremely strong field. Peyton Vitter of New Orleans, runner-up in this Championship each of the last two years, returns to see if the third time really is a charm. Other expected to vie for the crown include Grady Brame, Jr., of Hammond, Lewis Peters, Matt Decell, and Connor Johnson of Baton Rouge, Hayden Bigby of Bossier City, Jordan Karam of Lake Charles, Eric Ricard of Shreveport, Daniel DeLoach of Boyce, and Myles Lewis of Metairie. A number of Junior Amateur participants also competed in the LGA State Amateur Championship, held in early June at Koasati Pines at Coushatta in Kinder. Age Group competitors will compete in Championships in the following divisions: Ages 10-12, Age 13, Age 14, and Ages 15-17. Play will begin at Ellendale CC at 7:30 a.m., off both #1 and #10 tees, on Wednesday, with the final starting time scheduled for 9:00 a.m. # # #
